Tell el-Farah (Tirzah)

These pictures were made by Lucas Grollenberg (1916-1997) and Dan T. Hughs (1928-2012). The Dutch Hendricus Antonius Grollenberg, O.P. was a frequent fellow of the Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem since 1945. In that capacity he joined several archaeological expeditions directed by Roland de Vaux, such as to Tell el-Farah (Tirzah) and Khirbet Qumran. Dan Hughs was an ordained Presbyterian minister in the Presbyterian Church USA. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia where he received a degree in Architecture and was a member of Beta Theta Phi Faternity. While in seminary in the 1960s, he participated in three archaeological excavations in the Shechem area sponsored by Drew University and McCormick Seminary.
