Arnold C. Schultz - Tel Gezer

Tel Gezer is an archaeological site in present Israel which was inhabited from the end of the 4th millenium BCE. It is mentioned in the Bible and the Amarna Letters, and was an important Canaanite city in the first half of the 2nd millenium BCE because of its strategic location on a crossroads of trade routes. The most important find of this site is perhaps the Gezer Calendar, which is a plaque containing an ancient text, as of yet still undeciphered.
